Types of Cognitive Tools

There are many types of cognitive tools in the world that can be used for educational purposes in secondary education that provide students with the necessary skills to live in a technologically dependant society ( the Y generation A.K.A the Digital generation)
Some of these Cognitive Tools are:
Inspiration
Windows Movie Maker
Games


WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
Windows Movie Maker is a video editing software that is included in recent versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, time line narration, and Auto Movie. New effects and transitions can be made and existing ones can be modified using XML code. This gives secondary students knowledge about how to edit and create movies. Handy if you are a budding Young Filmmaker.

GAMES
Games can be interactive and help students in a range of skill levels and subjects. For example there is an online game that teaches students road safety and road rules. It puts you in a virtual car and takes you for a driving lesson it interacts with you by asking what you would do in specific scenarios etc.

INSPIRATION
Inspiration helps students to focus and refine their ideas in an orderly fashion and teaches them how to think through and order their ideas. it is interactive and offers many aspects to help students thought processes.
